Word From The President
I recently celebrated Family Day and it got me thinking about our international students. Many of them are far away from their families, and are creating “chosen families” while they are here. And, praise God, some are choosing to become part of God’s family!
It reminded me of the story Ryanna, from our Niagara Team, shared:
A Chinese student from Niagara College had purchased a cross necklace. He showed it to Ryanna at the end of their Bible Discovery meeting on campus. But, he said, he didn’t want to wear it until he became a son of God.
Ryanna recognized that God was at work and quickly responded. She invited him to become that son of God. Right there. Right then.
The group was able to witness how, with a huge smile on his face, this student became part of God’s eternal family. And then he asked Ryanna if she would do the honours of fastening the cross around his neck.
Amen! Isn’t that exciting?!? I’ve been told he now faithfully attends a local church and is being discipled and growing in his faith.
This is what International Student Ministries Canada is all about. Inviting students into a chosen family where they feel loved and can safely explore faith issues – and being sensitive to God’s leading when his Spirit is moving and drawing students to Himself.
Join us in praising God for the students who have become part of God’s family this semester! Pray for them! And consider a gift to ISMC or to your City Ministry to equip students, staff and volunteers to reach those around them with the love of God.
May God bless you,
