POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Worker will creatively identify, plan and implement social, cultural, and spiritual events (while COVID restrictions are in effect, activities will mainly be online) focused on international students, while also developing skills in a mentoring environment.

 

POSITION DETAILS

Position Type: Temporary Part-Time (Sept. 7, 2021 – Feb. 14, 2021; 12 hours/week for 23 weeks)
Salary: $14.35/hr (Position made possible by Canada Summer Job)
Location: Willowdale Area: While COVID restrictions are in effect, most activities will be online, but preference will be given to applicants in the Willowdale political riding.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Creatively identify, research, plan, implement and lead social, cultural and athletic events (during COVID this will mostly be limited to online engagements), primarily for international students.
  2. Connect, support and build relations with churches, school departments, and student groups.
  3. Correspond with team members and partner organizations, answer telephone and electronic inquiries, schedule and confirm appointments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Between the age of 15 and 30.
  2. Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  3. Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  4. Strong organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines and complete goals in a dynamic environment.
  5. Demonstrated oral and written English communication skills.
  6. Ability to function both independently and under supervision.
  7. Online networking and engagement skills are essential.
  8. In agreement with ISMC’s Statement of Faith and comply with our Lifestyle Practice and Conduct Policy.
