MISSION STATEMENT

We seek to love international students unconditionally, partner with local churches in leading international students to discover Jesus through the Word of God, and prepare them to serve God where He leads them.

SUMMARY

ISMC believes “everything rises & falls on leadership” and is passionate that every city ministry is led by a leader who can see the Big Picture. . Each city ministry has its own dynamic and flavour that we celebrate and at the same time we are building a national unity among our City Directors, from the Pacific to the Atlantic!

ISMC City Directors lead the local team. A City Director will cast vision, recruit & equip local staff and volunteers for the mission of ISMC.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Personal & Professional Development

1. Establish regular rhythms of scripture engagement, prayer and sabbath for God’s wisdom, character and strength in life and leadership.
2. Lead out of the strength of a healthy marriage or singleness.
3. Develop and maintain a team of prayer and financial partners.
4. Provide regular reports to the VP, East.
5. Engage in ongoing training (ACMI, local seminars, seminary course, online training).
6. Attend biennial ISMC National Conference.

Oversee city team

1. Set and maintain direction by keeping the vision statement before the team.
2. Build team spirit through regular meetings, regular personal contact with team members and annual retreats.
3. Meet with staff for specific planning as needed (Ex: meet with FP director from time to time to set direction for FP program).
4. Plan weekly prayer time schedule, organize and lead monthly business meetings, oversee the planning of the fund-raising banquet.
5. Recruit volunteers, associate and career staff for city ministries (responsible for screening and maintaining volunteers).
6. Provide new staff orientation and training in local ministry.

Oversee city ministries

1. Initiate and oversee ministries that meet the goal of ISMC.
2. Meet with pastors & churches.
3. Inspire and assist local churches in ministry to international students.
4. Develop relationships with international student advisors, chaplains, etc. at universities and colleges.
5. Communicate regularly with City team prayer & City Fund financial supporters.

PERSONAL CHARACTER & COMPETENCY QUALIFICATIONS

1. Growing in a vital relationship with Christ. Meets the leadership qualities of 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
2. Good Bible knowledge.
3. Understands the impact international student ministries can have in the world and is committed to empowering international students to impact the world by empowering staff.
4. In agreement with ISMC’s Statement of Faith and ISMC’s Lifestyle Practice & Conduct policy
5. Committed to the national vision and mission of ISMC.
6. Heart of a servant leader, able to recognize staff’s gifting and lead them toward their full potential in ministry and faith.
7. Personal and social confidence.
8. Have administrative abilities, including computer literacy.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. Proven success in Partner Development.
2. Demonstrated ability to train, motivate and lead others.
3. Proven ability to give clearly communicated presentations, in and outside of the Church.
4. Commitment to forging connections and partnerships with other mission organizations, local churches, denominational leaders.
