Fundraising for staff salary goals includes salary needs, ministry expenses, and an 11% administration fee.
Donations are receipted only for staff and projects approved by the governing board. Designated gifts are used for the purpose for which they are given; when that given need is met, excess funds are used where needed most.
Gifts of $10 or more are acknowledged with an emailed income tax receipt from Canada Helps.
Online donations are subject to a 3.5% to 4% transaction processing fee. To ensure the total amount of your donation goes to ISMC, you may explore other giving options.
International students are in search of a safe space to share the burdens they carry in their lives
As a former international student, life was challenging and far from smooth. I faced numerous barriers: language, culture, loneliness, anxiety, and more.
During that time, the church, and particularly my faith in God, provided a safe place for me. I found solace in God’s compassionate, loving presence and comfort in the company of friends and pastors, sharing the burdens of everyday life that my mother, sister, and I experienced as an international family.
Now, nearly two decades later, through the faithful guidance of God, I am honoured to offer that same safe space for international students. A place for them to simply be and breathe amidst the relentless pressures and numerous obstacles of daily life.
Through serving at International Student Ministries Canada as an Associate Staff, I pray and aspire to be a safe place for international students at Simon Fraser University.
I hope that through my presence, by being with them and walking alongside them in their daily lives, I can truly represent God’s unconditional and compassionate love, affirming them as His own precious beloved children.
I would love to invite each one of you to join this wonderful, blessed ministry. Together, we can bring God’s never-ending and life-giving love and care into the everyday lives of international students who are often struggling to find a safe place so that they can share the burdens of life together.
Here are some of the ways you can help:
Prayer – I plan to send out monthly prayer letters that will include updates on our current ministry activities, future plans, and specific prayer requests. If you would like to join us in this journey of prayer, please send your email address to tony.lee@ismc.ca, and I will add you to the distribution list for these monthly prayer letters.
Ministry Partnership – I am always eager to share the ministry of ISMC with local churches throughout the Lower Mainland of BC.
