Fundraising for staff salary goals includes salary needs, ministry expenses, and an 11% administration fee.
Donations are receipted only for staff and projects approved by the governing board. Designated gifts are used for the purpose for which they are given; when that given need is met, excess funds are used where needed most.
Gifts of $10 or more are acknowledged with an emailed income tax receipt from Canada Helps.
Online donations are subject to a 3.5% to 4% transaction processing fee. To ensure the total amount of your donation goes to ISMC, you may explore other giving options.
Dear Friends,
I am grateful to serve with ISMC in Hamilton, where we engage with over 10,000 international students at McMaster University and Mohawk College, representing countries like China, India, Africa, and more. Canada currently hosts over 1 million international students, offering opportunities but also challenges.
However, pursuing education abroad comes with its own set of challenges. In response, our dedicated team strives to provide comprehensive care and support to international students, helping them navigate their studies and settle into their careers. Our team provides holistic support—social, practical, and spiritual—to help students succeed.
Our programs are designed to meet students’ social, practical, and spiritual needs:
- Christmas and Easter outreach luncheons and dinners
- Thanksgiving dinners
- Welcome dinners for newcomers
- Monthly community dinners
- BBQs and outdoor games
- Discovery Canadian culture and history sessions, including Life Explored and Christianity Explored, with accompanying meals
- Excursions to Niagara Falls
- Picnics and boat rides on Lake Ontario
- Beachside picnics
- Healthy Life seminars focusing on mental health support
- Career mentoring and job assistance
- Friendship family meals during holidays
- Farm visits to apple orchards, dairy farms, and outdoor sports
- English conversation club sessions
