Fundraising for staff salary goals includes salary needs, ministry expenses, and an 11% administration fee.
Donations are receipted only for staff and projects approved by the governing board. Designated gifts are used for the purpose for which they are given; when that given need is met, excess funds are used where needed most.
Gifts of $10 or more are acknowledged with an emailed income tax receipt from Canada Helps.
Online donations are subject to a 3.5% to 4% transaction processing fee. To ensure the total amount of your donation goes to ISMC, you may explore other giving options.
Many international students and researchers arrive in Victoria over the summer months, providing us the perfect opportunity to befriend them in practical ways. We do this through:
- beach barbecues;
- Bible Exploration evenings (usually with a ‘meal component’);
- cultural opportunities to discover what Victoria has to offer;
- one-on-one and small group connections with Christian professionals in their chosen field of study.
WHY do we do what we do?
We, McDougalls (and many of our key volunteers), have lived as “strangers in a strange land” ourselves and understand many of the stresses and unknowns which international students face upon their arrival in Canada. It is our privilege to express what the Bible calls “Philoxenia” (practical love for the stranger) as a response to how God himself has befriended us. And besides, it’s a lot of fun!
